Senior Data Analyst · Halifax, Nova Scotia

I make data useful, and build software on the side.

I'm Devon. I've been wrangling data for six years, mostly with SQL, Snowflake, Python and Tableau. When the workday's done, I build tools of my own.

Projects

Four things I've built. Keep scrolling to see the data behind each one.

Foresite

Product · Go, Postgres, React, TypeScript

A privacy-first web analytics product I built and run. Sites add one line of JavaScript and get traffic stats with no cookies, no stored IP addresses and no consent banner. One Go binary handles collection, the dashboard and billing on Postgres.

0 cookies or IP addresses stored
What happens to one pageview. The IP address and User-Agent are used once, to find the country, the browser and a visitor hash that only lasts a day, then dropped before anything is saved. Each day's salt is deleted when the day ends, so a hash can't be linked to any other day. Source: Foresite's collector code.

Orchestrate

Open-source desktop app · Rust, Tauri, Svelte, TypeScript

A desktop app for running Claude Code agents in parallel. Each agent works in its own Git worktree, with live output, stop and resume, diff review and one-click merge. It was mostly built by its own agents, and v0.1.0 is out for Linux, macOS and Windows.

Each arc is one agent branch merge, drawn from when the branch left main to when it merged back. Dots mark the commits along the way. Merges are spaced evenly in order. Arc height shows lines added, on a log scale. Source: Orchestrate's git history.

Tracking Canada's Agreements

Freelance web development · Next.js, interactive mapping

An interactive map of the international agreements Canada has signed or announced since March 2025, made in partnership with the Canadian Shield Institute, Gloves Off and Social Capital Partners. I partnered closely with a designer to take it from first requirements to launch.

Each dot is one agreement, stacked by the month it was signed or announced and coloured by deal type. Source: variablegeometry.ca.

Reading Room

Personal project · Vanilla JavaScript, CSS 3D, Three.js

A home for every book I read. The first edition is a three-dimensional bookshelf you can pull books from to read my notes. The second, The Journal, is a cloth-bound journal drawn in WebGL that opens as you scroll and pages through the year.

Each spine is one book I read this year, in the order I finished them. Width shows pages and height shows my rating out of five. The colours are the covers, and a dot marks a favourite. Source: my Reading Room.

About

I got into data through the Data Analytics program at NSCC, then spent a few years building Tableau dashboards at Kinduct and tracking supply chain KPIs at Irving Shipbuilding. These days I'm at Dentalcorp, writing more SQL in Snowflake than I'd like to admit.

Away from a screen, you'll usually find me at CrossFit, training for Hyrox or out on a run. Otherwise I'm with my partner, Lauren, and my dog, Gus. I travel whenever I can, and my last big trip took me through Italy, England and Madeira.

My reading is all over the place. This year's favourites: Capote's In Cold Blood, Pratchett's The Colour of Magic, Édouard Levé's Suicide and Murakami's What I Talk About When I Talk About Running. I've also torn through eight Dungeon Crawler Carl books, because once you start, it's hard to stop.
